OK, just a quick post on something that has annoyed me recently. So it's time to stir the pot.
Have you ever been told what to feel? If you watch big media news channels, like CNN Headline News, you probably have.
The first story was about people who win the lottery. It was suggested that winning a large wind fall like a lottery often causes severe problems for the recipients. Headline News had the great idea that money causes people to be unhappy because excess money can cause drug and alcohol problems, and even spousal abuse. The news channel even said that point blank, you would be better off not having a lot of money.
Well EXCUSE ME! I really doubt that money makes people stupid. I think that money allows already stupid people to make larger mistakes, like buying a pound of drugs instead of just an ounce, and then that makes a great story. It would not be hard to keep your biscuits out of the fire even with a million or so waying it down. Quite frankly it was offensive to be told that I woud be better of not being wealthy. Let me decide for myself please.
The second story I found completely bias was a rather lengthy one about ultimate fighting or what's called mixed martia arts. Throughout the story, it was referred to only as "cage rage fighting". The whole time the "reporter" was telling the telling her story, I mean covering the news, she would make remarks like "you may want to avert you eyes", "warning these scenes are graphic" and on and on she went. Even going so far as to make the "that's too gross to look at I'm squeamish" face. The worst it showed was real enough, a fellow with a knot on his head and a bloodied nose. Can anybody say coloring the news. It was made out to be the worst thing since the gladiators of ancient Rome.
I just want someone to report the news so that I can use my own brain to figure out how I feel about whatever topic. I do not need some one to figure out what I "should" feel and then tell me about it. Give me facts and figures then shut up!
Well I feel better. Thanks for stopping by.
